Purpose of the ‘Localhost:Web3’
Why we started this place :
- Blocks are connected through electric signals carried by protocols. But true human connections happen offline. We created this space to support those real, offline connections — among developers, BD professionals, and other contributors across various industries
- Our intention is simple: To foster meaningful conversations and relationships within Korea’s Web3 ecosystem. This is a non-profit initiative, personally funded by the organizers. If this space can help grow the ecosystem, that alone makes us happy
- We have no intention of making this for-profit, now or ever. All financials will be transparently disclosed(🔗 Finance Spreadsheet)
Purpose/Definition of the Space :
- This is an offline venue for genuine communication among professionals in Korea, and by ‘genuine communication’ it means :
- (1) situations where one’s own interests and those of others are aligned
- (2) where these aligned interests do not conflict with the broader public good.
- Additionally, the space places strong emphasis on contributing to the growth of the Korean Web3 ecosystem
- Below are some examples of how the space might be used (though not limited to these)
- When hosting an academic society or study group but lacking a suitable venue
- When wishing to hold a blockchain-related lecture or seminar but needing space for attendees
- When organizing networking events to connect with various players in the Korean Web3 scene and seeking a sponsored venue
Further plans :
- From 4 individuals to collective ownership
- This space was started by just four people. But in the long run, we envision a future shaped not by a few, but by a growing collective.
- We aim to gradually move toward decentralization.
- One vision is to make the space feel more like a café — open, organic, and easy to engage with. While we’re currently opening up slowly due to early operational experiences (like managing scams, unwanted solicitations, or behavior that doesn’t align with the public interest), our direction is clear: a more inclusive and open environment.
- Another long-term goal is to evolve into a DAO.
- We hope to invite more contributors and grant equal authority to manage the space using on-chain governance tools such as Aragon. This would allow members to vote on matters like internal policy changes, sponsorship decisions, and who to bring into the contributor circle. If we eventually establish a treasury, we might even vote together on whether to invest in BTC — or take a bold leap into a highly volatile memecoin.
- We truly appreciate your interest and hope you’ll not only make use of this space, but also help shape what it becomes.
